Publishers Corner -Europa Series Wargames (ESW)

Post by Chobham_1980A »

Hi ZT Folk!

We are happy to announce that a new Publisher is in the works!

For all GROGNARD Europa Series players and newer players: see https://europaseries.com/games/

For those who do not know - Europa's "Drang Nach Osten" (DNO, 1974) was the game which gave our hobby the term of "Monster Game." It was/is an easily playable game with historic OBs (Orders of Battle) that concerned the colossal war between WW2's Germany and Soviet Union.

Although, ZT does not have this title, we do have an extensive archive of Europa Games (Vassal does have a copy)!

For more information about this Series, in electronic format (like Vassal/ZT), see this page: http://stonebooks.com/europa/platforms/

This Publisher is in the formation phase - so, keep an eye on this topic & review ESW's site

Hi ZT Folk!

Review the latest update from the fellows at ESW (Europa Series Wargames):

Now included are ALL the errata for each game in the Europa Series; as compiled by John M. Astell. For those who may not know: Mr. Astell, wrote many of the original rules for the Europa games - see https://europaseries.com/extras/ - - more to come and explore!

On a different note, I have contacted Mr. Rick Peterson (RPeterson), the fellow who made many Europa ZTBs on our site. He will be handling this thread to keep all NEW and older Europa Grognards informed on ESW developments!

Thank you ZT Upload Team: especially Rich.

I am a lifetime player of GDW (now ESW) Europa Series. I am hoping that we attract a new generation of players. Because this series of games is truly a pioneer in our gaming history!

I am UN-surprised that the olde Guard of GDW (Game Designers Workshop) have founded a new company to pursue the Europa system. Mainly because they, like their fan base, are focused on quality.

Back in the day - they always supported their games which have pushed future companies to a higher standards - for exemplars, see ESW website [ https://europaseries.com/games/] for their collated Errata-sheets.

Back in the day, as new games were produced, one would always find an errata sheet included. And all updated errata could be requested with a SASE (self-addressed stamped envelop) [For Younger Players, ask your Elders for the meaning of SASE and why a company offering SASE matters]. Some companies did not do this but GDW/ESW always has fulfilled this quality tradition 8)

I look forward to sharing more Europa ZTBs - - a system which truly deserves more play!

Thank you, Rick Peterson (NOT to be confused with Rich, ZT Upload Coordinator

Hi ESW Folk!

I asked Rich if I could re-imagine his tagline "ZT Folk" - and he said OK! I will be using this salutation into the future; so welcome all ESW Folk, new and older Grognards alike.

Thanks Rich :!:

Things are moving quickly on the ESW website https://europaseries.com/ and has recently added indices of all the maps and counter sheets of the entire Europa series!.

So keep an eye on ESW and expect more updates on this thread.

Thanks, Rick

ESW Folk,

Recently collated to https://europaseries.com/ (ESW), are three indices: 1) Index of Nations 2) Index of counter sheets and 3) Index of maps.

These indices are guides in understanding the lore of EUROPA: to help the Younger and Olde Guard in following the direction of ESW.

"The past leads to the future!"

Thanks, Rick
