| | --3/01/2026 BLAST!: Hunters, The v1.0 German U-Boats at War, 1939-43
Designed by Gregory M. Smith. Graphics by (all editions) by Ian Wedge, Rodger B. MacGowan and John Kranz.
Awards: 2013 Golden Geek Best Wargame Nominee! Best Guild Gaming Award, Solitare Game, 2013! Copyright© Consimpress 2013 | Conversion by Bill Barrett. The Hunters is a solitaire tactical level game placing you in command of a German U-boat during WWII. Your mission is to destroy as much Allied Shipping and as many Capital ships as possible while advancing your crew quality and increasing your commander rank culminating in special decoration ‒ all while remembering you have to make it home. The Hunters is purposely designed to deliver a brisk yet intensive gaming experience that forces many decisions upon you as you will take command among the major German U-boat models in service during WWII and try to complete an entire tour. If you ultimately survive all patrols from 1939 to 1943, you will be transferred to the U-boat Training Command for the remainder of the war, having successfully carried out your service for the Fatherland. Those familiar with the classic Avalon Hill game title, B-17: Queen of the Skies, will come to enjoy the same type of gaming experience of the German U-boat War. All major U-boat models are accounted for with every level of detail including period of service, armaments, crew make-up, damage capacity, and more. As U-Boat commander, you will be confronting many decisions during your patrol. To begin with, eight German U-Boat models are profiled and available for you to choose from. Patrol zones reflect the time period during the war at sea and will shift as the war progresses. All stages of the U-Boat campaign are represented as missions become increasingly more difficult as your adversary makes advances in anti-submarine warfare. Conducting patrols is the heart of the system as you will be resolving encounters against individual ships, convoys, or even enemy aircraft. Situations you face and decisions you make suddenly come in quick succession. If during a campaign you want to upgrade your U-boat to a later model follow this procedure: enter Terrain Mode (click on the "Trowel" icon"), move the mouse cursor on to the U-boat mat and press the Delete key. The mat will move off screen to reveal the next model's mat. Turn off Terrain Mode (click on the icon again) and move the counters around as desired/required.

| | Albion 20 v1.0 Hypothetical Invasion of England: 25-28 August, 1805
Designed by Alan Emrich Copyright© Alan Emrich and Victory Point Games 2008 | Conversion by Bill Barrett "The Napoleonic 20 game system expands with France’s long-planned invasion of England finally launched! With only modest complexity and a focused scope employing low unit density on the map (20 pieces or less) and dramatic, fast playing turns, it is the addition of ‘story-driven’ random event cards and night game turns providing the operational pauses and “friction of war” that give players a great feel for the parry-and-thrust of a Napoleonic campaign as the armies close for battle. With his newly trained and organized Grande Armée, Napoleon masses his forces in Boulogne for the great invasion. The Franco-Spanish fleet arrives on time to seize control of the English Channel, and a hell-for-leather landing is made aimed straight at London – the Kent Campaign ensues! With special post-landing maneuvering and naval conflict abstractions, Albion 20 adds many fascinating new features to simulate this campaign. Will the Emperor finally triumph over his archrival, “Perfidious Albion?” Or will there always be an England?

| | Armageddon: Tactical Combat 3000 to 500 BC PLUS Design by Albert Nofi. As originally arted by Redmond Simonsen. New art by F. Jordan (?).
This was the game included in Strategy & Tactics issue #34
(Seems almost as old as the battles depicted)! Copyright© SPI, 1972 | Conversion by Frank Jordan. Gamebox optimized for ZunTzu play. (That's what the ZT on the icon means.) New flip side counters, fourteen scenarios with setups ready to play, charts and tables accessible on the main screen, an enlarged, colorized map and all the rules accessible from tabs in every scenario. For convenience the rules are also included in a separate pdf file with an added file of errata. (The errata has already been incorporated in the ZunTzu gamebox.) The scale and weaponry is similar to the earlier Renaissance of Infantry and Centurion games (also on this ZT2 site) so after converting those two I couldn't leave Armageddon out. There are a few differences--like chariots (armored personnel carriers?)--that add some uniqueness to the game. Still, it's fairly straightforward and going from any one of these three early tactical games to another is pretty easy. See BGG and DG for more information! ** This PLUS box is a zip file; download and unzip to access the gamebox and extras! ** |

Artillery markers, new--not scanned--counters, Order of Appearance cards, a movable CRT, and two scenarios are all set up and ready to go with all components accessible from the main display. Extras included. The game represents the Allied drive to get to Arnhem bridge and the German efforts to delay them. See BGG and DG for more information. | | Battle Cry Civil War PLUS+ Battle Cry Civil War PLUS; Designer unknown; Art by James Walker; Published in 1961 by Milton Bradley as part of it's American Heritage Command Decision Series of light wargames. Battle Cry Civil War is a very abstract simulation of the Civil War.
ZT Note: Nice 3D minis! Copyright© Milton Bradley, 1961 | Conversion by Frank Jordan. This is another of Milton Bradley's American Heritage Command Series games. Battle Cry Civil War gives both North and South equal armies--10 cavalry, 10 infantry, and 2 artillery pieces--but positioning them for attack is the key. There's no luck in battle resolution; the larger force (the attacker) always wins and the smaller force is wiped out. The luck is in the movement. Higher dice rolls allow you to move more pieces or fewer pieces farther. The mechanics are closer to Chess and Checkers than Squad Leader, but it is a good "playable" game nonetheless. As for the gamebox, this was the easiest I've ever done; only three elements: the board, the pieces, and the rules. The rules are on one tab and it's just a photo of the inside box cover. In 1961 that's where most games had them. See the link to Board Game Geek for more information. See BGG and Modern Milton Bradley (Hasbro) for more information! |

Copyright© 3W: 1982, 1985, 1987 Copyright© 3W 1982, 1985, 1987 | Although 3W never published a scenario combining all three of their overlapping Tunisian BNA games, this is your chance to see what you can do with them. Other than rudimentary Turn Record Tracks linking the games together, I have added nothing to support a campaign game. However, I did standardize the map palettes based on PGtW (the results of which are more pleasing for RaB than for DaK). Also see these three games on ZT: See ZT files for these games separated: 1) Decision at Kasserine (3W, 1982) 2) Patton Goes to War (3W, 1987), and 3) Rommel at Bay (3W, 1985) For more info, see BGG. This update features the following enhancements: * Counter resolution upgraded to 400 dpi. * Free-floating charts. * Reprocessed the DaK map to try to improve the results of the color conversion. This was successful, but only modestly. |

| | Bismarck '62 1st Ed. PLUS + Design by Charles Roberts and Thomas Shaw; The German battleship breaks out into the North Atlantic and the Royal Navy hunts it down. This is a PLUS+ gamebox where the rules are incorporated as tabs rather than as a separate PDF file. Avalon Hill 1962. Copyright© Avalon Hill, 1962 | Conversion by Frank Jordan. This is Avalon Hill's 1962 edition of the Royal Navy vs the Bismarck. It originated the simple mechanics of going from a search board--to find the enemy--to a battle board--to sink him. ZunTzu keeps the players' search boards secret by using its "Hide board" feature. Then ZunTzu's "Stack Inspector" is used to display Bismarck's Zone Cards to both players. (Objects in the Stack Inspector are not hidden, which works well with Bismarck's mechanics.) The six pages of rules (really only three of actual rules) are incorporated right into the gamebox as readily available tabs. The Battle Board is visible to both players and hits are recorded using checkmarks placed on the Hit Record Pad. Games weren't as sophisticated back in 1962 but they were fun and playable. If you're looking for an easy to learn and play game, Bismarck 62 is exactly that. For more information see BGG & Avalon Hill |

| | Blood Before Richmond - Beaver Dam Creek Designed by Amabel Holland. As arted by Ilya Kudriahov. Copyright© Tiny Battle Games, 2016 | Conversion by S. Rugge. Beaver Dam Creek is the fourth game in the Blood. Before Richmond series, but the first battle chronologically. The first major engagement of the Seven Days set the precedent for the fighting that would follow. You have a small contingent of Union soldiers occupying a strong defensive position; Lee's plan calls for multiple divisions to coordinate their assaults so as to outflank and destroy the enemy; one or two divisions do all the fighting, abandoning the plan and settling for costly frontal assaults. At least this time, Stonewall Jackson shows up - sort of, anyway: having just marched from the Valley with orders to attack the Union rear, he hears the fighting and promptly sets up camp instead, because of course he does.
